I’m playing around some more in Blender. This time I went with a material thickness of 2mm, cranked the lens up to 700mm, and used a F-stop of 0.7

My first attept at using 3D with a sort of paper-cut style. Of course it had to be a bird. I used a “white-breasted Nuthatch” as the subject.
The distances between layers and the material thickness are exaggerated, but I liked the look so I went with it.

I got several ideas to explore in this direction, combining my preference of cut/abstract shapes with cardboard/construction paper texture. Right now this is all Photoshop, but I might explore it using 3D as well
